About Lincoln County

History
The history of Lincoln County is representative of growth and cultural changes associated with the Westward
Expansion.  Trapping, mining and railroads all played a major part in the development of the county.

Marriage Certificates
Beginning in 9 Aug 1872, marriage certificates were issued in the Uinta County Courthouse located in Evanston.
When Uinta  County was  officially divided on 1 Jan 1913, marriage certificates for the newly created Lincoln County
were administered from the new courthouse in Kemmerer.  The records contained herein span a period of 72 years;
from 1869 to 15 Jan 1944.  Later marriage certificates can be found at the State Vital Records Division, Cheyenne,
Wyoming.

Please be aware that the purpose of this project was to optimize readability of the records.  Due to the various inks
used and writer's styles, some pages were very difficult to read.  For these, we attempted artificial enhancements in
Photoshop to make them more legible; thus the variations in page colors seen in the data.
